Intermediate - Introduction to Indoor Lead Climbing
Lead climbing involves ascending a route while clipping the rope into bolts, requiring climbers to use and sometime place their own protection (Quick-draws) as they climb.
OVERVIEW
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
This course provides the necessary skills for indoor lead climbing. However, it does not encompass the skills needed for outdoor lead climbing on single or multi-pitch routes. We offer a separate course tailored to help lead climbers get ready for outdoor single-pitch climbing on a sport route (Outdoor Lead Sport Preparation).
▪️ Quickdraw placement and removal
▪️ Clipping techniques
▪️ Lead belaying (Static and Dynamic)
▪️ Lead climbing
▪️ Seconding
▪️ Fall practice and catching a fall
▪️ Problem-solving and route selection
▪️ Discussion on the gear needed for leading
▪️ Small groups, 2-4 people (max group size 4)
Prerequisites (minimum)
▪️ Strong 5+ climber on vertical routes
▪️ Been climbing regularly for 6 months

▪️ Equipment : Lead ropes, Quick-draws and Belay Devices are supplied for the duration of the course. The assumption is that you already have your own Climbing Shoes and Harness, but these can be supplied at a small additional cost.
